It was with great trepidation that Pat and I went about organising our first club event. A walk up Ben Ledi at Callander!
After checking out the walk 4 weeks previously, and sending out information, with help from our trusty chairperson Irene, we arrived at the car park at foot of Ben Ledi to find that the grand total of 18 people had turned up to join us for our walk! It was lovely to see so many people including ones who had never walked with us before.
Ben Ledi although not a Munro is a fairly strenuous walk, more or less straight up and straight down, but everyone seemed to enjoy it especially as the weather was on our side and we had spectacular views from the summit.
Afterwards everyone gathered at the Claymore pub in Callander for a well earned drink and chat, (and football scores!) before heading for home after another very successful club event!
Pat and I found it a lot easier than expected to organise our walk and we are already talking about planning another! If we can do it anyone can, and there are lots of people willing to give help and advice. I hope this will encourage others to do the same and we look forward to joining you.
